The LA n Sync Strategic Response Fund (SRF) is a pooled fund created to provide matching commitments for LA n Sync-supported grant applications. With a minimum contribution of $5,000, individuals, small and mid-sized foundations, and larger-asset foundations all have the opportunity to leverage millions of dollars in federal and state funding for Greater Los Angeles!

Cap & Trade Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Finalists Announced 

The California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) has released the list of finalists for the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program, the first round of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund funding for FY 2014-2015. Finalists include seven projects from Los Angeles County and twelve projects from Southern California. There were a total of 28 projects recommended throughout the state, totaling nearly $122 million dollars in funding. The list reflects recommendations from SGC staff to the SGC board members. The final decisions on which projects will be funded and the grant amounts will be made by the SGC board on June 30, 2015.

Promise Zone Update

Los Angeles and Philadelphia PZ Partnership Wins AmeriCorps Grant

Lead agency Youth Policy Institute and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti partnered with the City of Philadelphia to secure the first-ever joint grant between two federal Promise Zones. As a result, 50 full-time AmeriCorps members will be placed in struggling schools in the Los Angeles and Philadelphia Promise Zones to serve as College & Career Ambassadors and help prepare 1,440 students annually for post-secondary school options. The federal investment is $1,930,671 over three years.
