Promise Zones: Round 3Open for Public Comment

LA n Sync reminds our colleagues that The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have opened the public comment period for the third and final round of Promise Zones designations. Beginning July 29 through September 28, 2015 comments will be solicited regarding the selection process, criteria and submissions.
LA n Sync was a key supporter in the first round of Promise Zones, when the City of Los Angeles became one of only three cities in the nation to receive the urban designation in 2014. We hope our region will see the same success in this upcoming round.

Sync Meets with David Eichenthal

This week, LA n Sync met with David Eichenthal, Executive Director of the National Resource Network (NRN), to learn more about its plans for our nation's cities, and our region. The NRN is a coalition of experienced consultants who work in partnership with the White House Council on Strong Cities, Strong Communities. The NRN plans to provide direct technical assistance to approximately 80 cities across the nation by the end of 2016, and is looking to partner with the City of Compton, here in our region. By being able to provide strategic planning and advice from experts in local government, the NRN hopes to ensure the economic success of our cities, which is critical to the overall well-being of our nation.

LA n Sync and the Annenberg Foundation have supported these efforts over the years.

Kish Rajan New President of the Southern California Leadership Council

LA n Sync welcomes Kish Rajan to Southern California as the new President of the Southern California Leadership Council (SCLC). The Sync workgroup met with Mr. Rajan this week to discuss ways to collaborate. The SCLC exerts strong leadership on issues of regional significance, providing a common voice on major public policies critical to economic vitality, job growth and quality of life in Southern California.
