The Annenberg Foundation Moves Its Acclaimed LA n Sync Program To a New Home — the California Community Foundation

February 22, 2017

Today the Annenberg Foundation and the California Community Foundation (CCF) officially announced the next phase of LA n Sync — the Annenberg Foundation’s acclaimed initiative bringing together the academic, civic, nonprofit, business, and philanthropic sectors to pursue and win highly competitive public funding opportunities for the Greater Los Angeles region. Effective immediately, CCF will administer LA n Sync and serve as its new home and hub.

$70 Million Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Institute Grant 
Awarded to Los Angeles!

June 20, 2016 — Today, the U.S. Department of Energy announced a $70M grant for a Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Institute to be headquartered in Los Angeles has been awarded to the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (SMLC). LA n Sync is proud to have been part of the core team for this application, led by SMLC and UCLA .

LA n Sync Congratulates SLATE-Z On Its Promise Zone Designation Win!

June 07, 2016 — LA n Sync joined local leaders today in celebrating the South Los Angeles Empowerment Zone's (SLATE-Z) winning application for a Promise Zone Designation. Sync is proud to have played a role in this historic and unprecedented partnership of over 50 public, private, and community-based organizations dedicated to moving residents to economic opportunity. The collaborative’s vision is to connect South Los Angeles through Transportation, Education and Economic Mobility.

October 22, 2014 — In October, Washington came to Los Angeles, one of six Roundtables they attended across the country, to learn about LA’s innovative programs surrounding early learning. In partnership with First 5 LA, The Partnership for Early Childhood Investment, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, the Advancement Project and the White House Domestic Policy Council, LA n Sync hosted Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and 40 key cross-sector leaders for a roundtable discussion. LA n Sync Pilot Year Briefing Highlights

May 09, 2014 — On May 9, 2014, 250 guests gathered at the California Science Center for an executive briefing on LA n Sync’s pilot year moderated by Andy Goodman, Director of the Goodman Center. In its first year, LA n Sync: • Scanned 45 federal agencies searching for discretionary grants that fit the LA n Sync criteria • Pursued 20 grants • Won 7 grants • Has 5 applications still pending • In total, $51.5 million in grants were secured. Additionally, by winning a Promise Zone designation for the City of Los Angeles and a Manufacturing Community designation for Southern California, the region is now in a preferential position to apply for future grants potentially worth more than a billion dollars.
